With a philosophy of “knock down seven times, stand up eight”, David has been involved in martial arts and combat sport since 1974.

David started Shotokan karate in 1974, and three years later assimilated into the Goju-Ryu style, under Shihan Stuart Booth, an immense instructor who shaped David into the meticulous instructor he is today. David is a certified third-dan Goju-Ryu instructor, who has successfully run the Goju-Ryu Ken Wa Kai dojo in Randburg 

David’s journey did not end with the very important and influential karate foundation. His passion for combat sport saw him discover the ancient art of Muay Thai. He went on excel in Muay Thai under Kru Madini.  

His passion for the intense and highly effective fighting style of Muay Thai has culminated in David earning accreditation.

One of the first Mauythai instructors to receive the IGLA khan 9 grading in South Africa,  Internationally certified by the World Muaythai Council and the International Federation of Mauythai Associations

 

 Elite Muaythai Gym is a SAAMF/IFMA-accredited instruction facility, all of which are internationally recognised certifications.

Whether it was being a a student of karate, PT instructor in the Air Force or completing First Aid courses, David has continued in his belief in constant learning and up-skilling for the benefit of his students.
